W.B.Jones Staircases started production in 1969 however did not become incorporated until 1976. We have been in the St Marys/Dunheved Industrial Estate since 1971 and moved into the current premises in 1982. An adjoining property was bought and extended in 1996.
In 1969 WB Jones left his job as a building supervisor and started contracting- doing mainly upstairs extensions to domestic residences. Finding that he could not get anyone reliable to manufacture the staircases for these jobs, and having done his apprenticeship in staircasing, he did them himself. Through word of mouth his staircase business started to grow. This growth was linked to the surge in domestic double storey construction that started in the early seventies and has been going ever since! Some of our oldest customers started constructing double storey houses back then and are still with us today.
The company is still family owned and has grown steadily.We now have over thirty direct employees many of them having been with us for more than twenty years. We have trained many apprentices and retained a large number of them as qualified tradesmen. We believe that training is our future and our growth.
